The Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries, Norfund, invests in the private sector in developing countries to create jobs, improve lives and support the transition to net zero. Owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norfund invests in renewable energy, financial inclusion, green infrastructure, scalable enterprises within agribusiness and manufacturing, and funds. Norfund also manages the Norwegian Climate Investment Fund and a Ukraine Fund.

Norfund has offices in Oslo, Nairobi, Cape Town, Accra, San José, and Bangkok. Its portfolio comprises NOK 43,2 billion across 230 companies. The organization employs about 150 staff of 32 nationalities.

Are you eager to make good investments in Ukraine’s private sector?

Beyond its Development and Climate Mandates, Norfund has been given a new mandate by the Norwegian Government to invest in Ukraine. In response, the Ukraine Fund was established, financed by the Nansen Programme, to support Ukraine’s private sector.

If you are high-achieving and dependable, with strong investment experience and a curious mindset, this role could be for you. We offer a key role in a small, highly skilled, and driven team within an international environment. You will be integral in building a fund from the ground up, leveraging Norfund’s structures, success and supportive culture. The role includes international travel and the opportunity to make a real difference in Ukraine and Europe.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading deal sourcing, identifying, and developing investment opportunities.
  • Managing transactions from screening and due diligence to execution, ownership, and exit.
  • Driving internal projects to refine and implement the investment strategy, including sector and target mapping.
  • Managing relationships with other investors, industry groups, and key stakeholders.
  • Representing Norfund externally at conferences, events, and in the media.
  • Sitting on boards, advisory, or LP committees in portfolio companies.
  • Leading complex deal structuring and negotiations.
  • Conducting financial analysis, valuation, modelling, and making presentations.
  • Addressing challenges in underperforming investments and turnarounds
  • Managing and mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications:

We welcome experienced high-performing professionals with:

  • Experience leading investment projects, M&A, or deal sourcing.
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, driven, and organized approach with a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including financial modelling and contract evaluation.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • A strong academic record with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience and a network in Ukraine is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English (required), with proficiency in Ukrainian considered an advantage.

The position is based in Oslo. Travelling is required.
